The MajorityVoice View of Democracy
There is no democracy! But, there should be.
A sign to watch for to help you verify the emergence of an actual democracy would be a popular law that equates political corruption to treason. The act of betraying a people's trust from powerful public offices is treason. The waste and fiscal abuse of government is a legendary primary roadblock in the path of human progress and social evolution. Short of divine intervention, literal democracy is humankind's only hope! The People don't rule! But, we can and we should.
Except for brief periods after revolutions, all countries have always been ruled by small, elite, powerful groups. Even "the birthplace of democracy" was not a true democracy, because most of ancient Greece's people weren't even citizens. They were slaves. It may surprise you to know that the vast majority of today's people are unwitting slaves, wasting most of our energy, money and time to pay the outrageous, ever-increasing cost of ever-decreasing quality of goods and services from both commerce (planned obsolescence) and governments (world champions of waste) while simultaneously approaching the point-of-no-return in the perpetual destruction of the Earth's ecosphere.
And truthfully, most world leaders aren't really bad guys. Because of the ever-escalating, cut-throat competition of globalism, no leader can now make decisions which are in the best interest people and nature without singularly disadvantaging those he or she leads. The only feasible solution to this predicament is the Simultaneous Policy @
www.SimPol.org. Please, go there and adopt the Simultaneous policy. You have nothing to lose. And, your children have everything to gain.
Is what we have DEMOCRACY? Or, is it DEMOCKERY?
Demockery: (de-mok-er-e) noun, A deceptive system of government which is called and resembles democracy: but which actually enslaves and
impoverishes the majority while empowering and enriching an elite minority. Source: MajorityVoice.Org 2001.
Leaders of countries, like the USA, who represent their governments as democracies, do so to placate the people. "The [most effective] form of slavery is one in which the slaves don't know they're slaves." And, let me assure you here that I deeply love America. But, our system of governance has infinite room for improvement. And, the true definition of a patriot is one who is vigilant of anything that may harm his or her countrymen and their pursuit of happiness; one who'll do everything possible to improve and protect his or her country. The "Love It or Leave It" mantra was the elite ruling minority's propaganda to malign and silence those who advocate change.
A political system in which the people surrender their rightful supreme power to "representatives" can not be a democracy for long, if at all. Over time, as a government is institutionalized, the lack of public involvement and natural human greed gradually pervert laws, systems, customs, codes and regulations to benefit those in power. In all of today's so-called democracies, the people vote for whoever they deem "the lesser of evils."
So, We, the people, elect that party's candidate or this party's candidate: but never OUR candidate. Even when honest, dedicated candidates are elected, once in power they can accomplish nothing for their constituents until they begin to play the ruling elite's time-honored game of "three giant (quiet) steps for ourselves and one small (loud) step for the people." The monumental costs of political campaigns force candidates to prostitute their ethics or morals (sell us out) for their campaign funds. "An honest person can't afford to run for public office" is a now global
cliché. The fictional reality presented in the movie, "The Distinguished Gentleman," with Eddie Murphy, is a comical but very realistic portrayal of modern "so-called" democratic politics.
I see only four possibilities for humanity's salvation from this vicious cycle of global
madness. 1) God saves us from ourselves. 2) The world's leaders have a spontaneous, simultaneous resurrection of conscience and begin doing what's right. 3) Humanity adopts the Simultaneous Policy and through voting and buying power, pressures leaders to do likewise. And/or, 4) "We, The People," of every country democratically compose our collective local and global will through our own truly democratic system (like MajorityVoice's Forum System). And, by the sheer power of our unity and the strength of our numbers, we pressure our respective leaders to make certain that "Our will be done" in every regard, under continuous public threat of removal from office.
Responsible human beings have a duty to make literal democracy a reality.
